Views of differences

This is going to be my second post for today as I really wanted to say this while it's fresh in my mind. It has come to my attention recently that we still have this stigma around disability. My question is why? We are who we are. We all have things that we don't like about ourselves, so it makes it even worse why someone's else notices it what ever it may be. I also feel that sometimes even through we may not realise what we're doing.  I have enough of people thinking that knowing someone with a disability should make you an amazing person. This view needs to STOP you should like people for who they are and not like someone because of a label. I can say that I've lost friends because of this and in the past few years I've certainly learnt who is there for me when I really need them.

The main that I've learnt is that everything happens for a reason and whether you see it at the time it does. I certainly feel that I'm quite lucky because the people I have in my life are so supportive for me in everything I do. I also feel lucky that I am able to voice opinions to a platform like this so that it get's said.

The past few months I do feel that my blog has become more popular because I feel that now I'm be totally honest and open. I was talking to someone the other day who couldn't believe that I was only in my early 20's and have these opinions. However I have had these opinions for a while now I just haven't  been brave enough to say them. However someone need's to!!

May I remind you that disability isn't something we choose to have. It's something that become's part of us and yes some disabilities are more visible than others, but it shouldn't matter I hear people say behind my back all the time "what's wrong with me". There's nothing wrong with me I'm just different. Disability shouldn't be something that we feel is a weakness for me it's a empowerment to reach out to people from all over the world on a platform that I can say whatever I want and still be me. When I log of from this blog I'm still the same person I go to work and see my friends, you know like a "normal" 22 year old.

Everyone should have a opinion and I accept that, I do. However it's when we have an opinion without having the knowledge to back-up that opinion. That's what really annoy's me, when someone says a sweeping statement which actually could offend someone without even releasing that you're doing it.

This silence needs to be broken and we as a whole should feel happy with however we are. That's why I feel that who we are whether we choose to be that or not. You are You and thing that I've definitely learnt is never let anyone stop you from being you. Whether you're 16 reading this or 60 you have the control and the ability to be whoever you want to be. If I had listened to some of the people around me growing up then I wouldn't be where I am today. I wouldn't be sat here on a sunday morning writing this and voicing my opinion.

Do what makes you happy and the rest will figure itself out.

I would love to hear your opinions and how you feel on this subject so leave a comment below.
